In the office of the rector of Sorbonne, October 4,
2000.
From right to left: the dean of the department of International Economic
Relations of the BSEU Mikhail Mishkevich, the rector of the BSEU Roman
Karseko, the rector of the University Paris–1 (Sorbonne) Michel Kaplan,
the deputy rector on international affairs of Sorbonne Michel Rebuffat,
the chief of the francophone division of the Department of International
Economic Relations, representing the French party, Pierre Cabagnols.
The
dean of the Department of International Economic Relations Mikhail
Mishkevich has three degrees of higher education. In 1976 he graduated
from Minsk State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. In 1986 he
defended the candidate thesis in Roman philology. In 1995 he
received the second higher education in the Higher School of
Management and Business of the BSEU, having majored in International
Economic Relations. In 1994 received the Bachelor degree in Economics (Maitrise
in Economics), and in 1995 the Master degree from the University Paris - 1. Mikhail
Vatslavovich has been working at our university for more than 20 years. He
started as a teacher of the French language, since 1988 he has been the
head of the sub-faculty of foreign languages №1 of the BSEU. And since
1995 he has been the dean of the Department of International Economic
Relations. In his childhood Mikhail
Mishkevich wanted to know as many foreign languages as possible and to
become an interpreter, but having grown up he found himself in teaching,
which he considers to be his calling. Now he is fluent in English, German
and Polish. And French can be stated without exaggeration to be his second
native language. The masterpieces by Leo Tolstoy are what encouraged him
to learn this fascinating language. His favourite language is Belarusian.
The dean loves theatre, music (his collection includes all the works by
Bach, Mozart and Chaikovsky, as well as good modern rock). His favourite
song is "Wind of Change" (Scorpions). Mikhail Vatslavovich is
keen on sports. He considers himself an optimist, and a self-made man.
From his point of view the main qualities a person should possess are
decency, fairness, equity, inquisitiveness, keenness. He doesn't
sympathise with a person losing his dignity. His main life principle is to
act according to his conscience.
